Chubbuck Technique

 

The Chubbuck Technique has been developed by the American acting coach Ivana Chubbuck. This acting technique – based on the teachings of Stanislavski - is the only acting technique that is scientifically based on psychology and human behavioural science. Many international A-list actors, such as Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, Travis Fimmel, Halle Berry, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Franco, Thure Lindhardt, etc... have been able to build successful careers by using this effective technique.

 

The Essence of the Chubbuck Technique

People are inspired by others who, in spite of obstacles in their lives, do not give up the pursuit of their life’s goal. These people are our heroes and role models, who give us hope. Those who do not take responsibility for their own lives and who are in a rut, easily bore us. With that in mind, a successful actor (one who creates hope and is therefore not boring) needs to recreate dynamic characters who will do anything to achieve their goal, in spite of any obstacles. 12 Tools

The Chubbuck Technique uses 12 tools which help the actor to better understand their character and help them to personalize their role by using their own personal experiences, pain and needs. Besides the 12 tools, the Chubbuck Technique teaches the actor how to access their deeper emotions, how to create chemistry with their scene partner, how to create organic fear, how to understand the mind of a serial killer or psychopath and how to portray a character that is intoxicated or drugged without the actual use of alcohol or drugs.
